How to Make a Gin Fizz Cocktail
Looking for the best gin cocktail recipe? Try a refreshing Gin Fizz: it’s perfectly balanced – both sweet and tart, with a pop of lemon and a botanical finish. And trust us when we say, there’s a reason this one has remained on the classic cocktail list for over a century. Originally the classic Gin Fizz recipe was a combination of gin, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup (sugar syrup) and soda water. Today, we have taken to adding egg white to give it a foamy top and smoother mouthfeel. You can add egg white in, or leave it out if you wish.
Serve in — Tall glass, like the highball glass or Collins glass
Garnish — Lemon Twist
Ingredients
45ml Gin (We prefer a London Dry Gin, like Bombay Sapphire or Tanqueray, but if there is one you love, use it!)
30ml Lemon Juice, freshly squeezed
10ml Sugar Syrup
1 Egg White
60ml Soda Water
Lemon Twist to Garnish
Have a vegan guest? Substitute the egg white with 10ml of Aquafaba – the liquid that’s in a can of chickpeas.
Method
Add the gin, fresh lemon juice, syrup, and egg white in a cocktail shaker without ice and shake vigorously (this is called a Dry Shake). This lets the protein in the egg begin to form foam, instead of being diluted by the ice
Add ice and shake again. This cools the drink and strengthens the foam
Pour contents into a glass with ice and top up with soda water
Garnish with a lemon twist
