Drink a Bit of History with the Bourbon Old Fashioned
The Bourbon Old Fashioned is now very much a drinker's drink – a slug of whiskey, seasoned and sweetened. It's not for the faint of heart, but once acquired, it's a taste you'll relish. A good place to start is by using good bourbon, with the rule being that if you wouldn’t sip it by itself it has no place at the helm of a Bourbon Old Fashioned.

Bartender’s Advice
The most common mistake is not stirring enough (the dilution and thorough combining of the ingredients are essential). The aim is to find the balance between texture and temperature. Too much stirring, and it’s too watery. Too little stirring, and you’ll have yourself a warm beverage that is potentially too boozy for your palette. Finally, if you prefer a strong, spicy kick, try making your Old Fashioned with Rye Whisky instead!
