How to Make a Boston Sour Cocktail

What happens when you take a classic Whiskey Sour and add egg white? It becomes a Boston Sour by name. But oh, what a difference an egg makes!

Serve in – Coupe glass

Garnish – Lemon twist

Ingredients

  • 45ml Bourbon (We suggest Woodford Reserve Straight Bourbon Whiskey)

  • 20ml Lemon juice, freshly squeezed

  • 10ml Simple (sugar) syrup or agave nectar syrup

  • Egg white (or Aquafaba for a vegan alternative)

  • Angostura bitters

Method

  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker without ice and shake vigorously (this is called a Dry Shake) – this allows the protein in the egg to form foam, instead of being diluted by the ice

  2. Add ice and shake vigorously – this cools the drink and strengthens the foam

  3. Double strain contents into a coupe glass, or short ice-filled glass

  4. Add a few dashes of bitters on top

Bottom’s up!
