How to Make a Paloma Cocktail
Today we wanted to share Mexico's national drink, and what we think is Summer’s simplest cocktail! No, Mexico's national drink is not a margarita. Hiding in the margarita’s icy shadow is the real treasured drink of Mexico – the Paloma. This citrusy refreshment is more laid-back than its artisanal brethren, and so simple, making it the perfect accompaniment to relaxed social gatherings.
Serve in – Collins Glass
Garnish – Pink or Red Grapefruit Wedge & Chili Salt Rim (optional)
Method
50ml Blanco Tequila (We suggest Espolon Tequila Blanco or Patron Silver)
25ml Pink Grapefruit Juice (Freshly Squeezed)
15ml Lime Juice (Freshly Squeezed)
15ml Agave Syrup
50ml Pink Grapefruit Soda
Instructions
Rim the glass with chilli salt (optional) — moisten the outer rim of the glass with a slice of grapefruit and place the upturned glass onto a plate of chilli salt, then place the glass to the side
Add the tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice and agave syrup to your cocktail shaker, fill with ice and shake vigorously to chill contents
Strain the contents into your Collins glass
Fill your glass with ice
Finish by placing your grapefruit wedge into your cocktail
