How to Make a Manhattan Cocktail
The Manhattan is a classic cocktail that any sophisticated whiskey drinker ought to know by heart, to reach for when we want a truly classic cocktail. The story goes that the drink was invented at a club called The Manhattan Club in New York City (hence the name) and dates back to the 1870s. It is brazen – with a heavy pour of rye or bourbon, sweet vermouth, and aromatic bitters. It is rich – with sweet and spicy notes from the vermouth, and a herbal nuance from the bitters. So, have at it!

Bartender’s Tip
The traditional way to make a Manhattan cocktail recipe is with rye whiskey. You may substitute bourbon whiskey for rye whiskey in your Manhattan, however rye has a spicier flavour which jabs sharply, so we tend to prefer it.
